Professional Background
Dr. Waterman is double board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons.
A Seattle native, Dr. Waterman was accepted directly from high school into the highly competitive Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute/Albany Medical College BS/MD program. He completed his Biology degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College at age 23, having completed the accelerated combined BS/MD degree curriculum within six years rather than the typical eight years it normally took to work through the arduous program. He also received the John Milton Bigelow Prize for excellence in examinations related to ear, nose, and throat medicine.
He went on to complete a general surgery internship followed by a four-year residency in Otolaryngology at Albany Medical Center Hospital. During residency, Dr. Waterman trained under Dr. Peter Koltai, a renowned leader in pediatric otolaryngology, who introduced him to the art and science of rhinoplasty—an area that became Dr. Waterman’s lifelong surgical focus.
Dr. Waterman has been repeatedly recognized by peers as a “Top Doctor” in the Seattle region, receiving honors from Seattle Magazine (2009, 2010) and Seattle Met Magazine (2010, 2014, 2015). In 2019, Dr. Waterman became an inaugural member of the RealSelf Network, a designation reserved for top-rated, elite providers on their website.

Personal Note
Outside the operating room, Dr. Waterman is an avid competitive cyclist. He has raced at nine velodromes in five states and four countries, and he earned a Pan American Games gold medal in the 750-meter time trial. In addition to cycling, Dr. Waterman enjoys skiing, playing guitar, studying languages, and traveling. He is also the proud father of two young adults.
